DUSK creator and writer David Doub will be participating at a panel at this weekend’s Conestoga 11 convention being held in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Here are the specifics on David’s panel:
E publishing, no advance houses and small presses
Sat 09:00 AM Room : Salon F Duration: 1 hrs.
These are exciting times for small presses, e-publishers and e-authors.
They’re also a bit unnerving. The e-publishing industry is still in its infancy and undergoing changes. Small presses fight an uphill battle on distribution. Publishers and authors share their perspectives.

The Ambrosia Publishing Weekly Recap for July 20th

Here’s a weekly recap of things revolving around Ambrosia Publishing

The Conclusion of CLOCKWORK CREATURE: CHAPTER ONE

Today marks the end of the online serialization of Kyle’s CLOCKWORK CREATURE: CHAPTER ONE with the posting of page 50. Both published and digital versions of the story will be available in the weeks to come from the upcoming Ambrosia Publishing Store. I’ll be posting information on when and where the published version will be available in addition to a special contest being put together which could nab the lucky winner a sweet piece of art from Kyle. Details to come.

It’s Still Early, But…

Been in talks with two creators regarding bringing their previously-published books to Ambrosia. Both will be a perfect fit so here’s to hoping things work out. More information as it becomes available.

I Had My Reservations

Referring to THE TRANSFORMERS which I finally caught this past week. See, I thought Bay’s ARMAGEDDON was… crap, to put it lightly. So I wasn’t getting my hopes up for this flick. But I have to say it was MUCH better than I thought it would be. If you leave your brain at the door, then you’ll see one of the better summer movies. Plus you’ll see one of the coolest trailers for the upcoming, mysterio-JJ Abrahm’s flick, 01-08-2008. Some say it’s a Godzilla flick, some say it’s a HP Lovecraft flick. Either one would work for me if the trailer is any indication.

The Ambrosia Publishing Weekly Recap for July 13th

Spiritsmania

That is what it has been here at the AP office. While working on the pre-production work on SMUGGLING SPIRITS: Book One, I receive the last batch of pages for SMUGGLING SPIRITS from Mike. It is one thing to read a book’s outline and have an idea of how the story will play out; it’s another to actually see it laid out visually. Ben (the writer), Mike (the artist), and Adam (the letterer) have done an excellent job on this story. All three hit their stride in the second half producing one of the best graphic novels I’ve read this year. I’ll be sure to post a link to Ben and Mike’s podcast interview with Mike from Indie Comic News about as soon as it goes live.

Read THEY DO NOT DIE! For Free

I had a good response doing this with CLOCKWORK CREATURE: CHAPTER ONE so I am doing it again. If you are interested in reading the lurid, horror graphic novel THEY DO NOT DIE! by Scott O. Brown and Horacio Lalia before it begins its online serialization in August, just drop me a line and I’ll send you the complete graphic novel in PDF format. I just ask that you write a short little review of it for your blog or web site. That’s easy enough, isn’t it? If you’re a fan of HP Lovecraft or those old HOUSE OF MYSTERY or/and TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED put out by DC in the late 60s/70s- then you’ll love this book.

BEFORE DAWN 2?

A couple of years ago, artist Jason Whitley and myself self-published a horror graphic novel called BEFORE DAWN. It wasn’t a huge success but it did receive some positive reviews from the likes of Sam Raimi (yes, that Sam Raimi), Jen at Rue Morgue magazine, John Fallon at the popular horror site, Arrow In The Head, and a handful of other notable horror-related sites. The graphic novel was distributed by Diamond and has gone back to press twice so far.

Jason and I have talked here and there about doing a sequel because we left the ending of the original story open ended. We are at the stage now where we have a good idea of what we want to do with the sequel (out with the f**king zombies and in with the big-ass monsters) and I have a rough outline done which we’re both pretty happy with. I like to think of it as a mishmash of SIXTEEN CANDLES, Stephen King’s THE MIST, and DELIVERANCE.

While it isn’t definite yet, there is a chance I will republish BEFORE DAWN through Ambrosia along with BEFORE DAWN 2 and possibly a collected version of both stories in one Absolute edition. Details to follow if and when they become available.

  • Author: wesley
  • Date: Jul 12,2007

Want to be one of the first to read the complete version of THEY DO NOT DIE!, a horror graphic novel set to begin its online serialization next month?

THEY DO NOT DIE! is a 72 page graphic novella about a young girl name Megan on the cusp of adulthood. As her boyfriend and classmates change around her, Megan discovers that once anyone in the town turns eighteen their souls are traded to a cyclopean beast in the mountains for immortality. She doesn’t believe that immortality is worth trading your soul, and tries to save both herself and her little sister from their fate.

Written by Scott O. Brown (NIGHTFALL from Platinum Studios) and Horacio Lalia, THEY DO NOT DIE! is a lurid tale of dread and terror influenced by the writings of HP Lovecraft and such 70s horror movies like INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS and SQUIRM.
