So far, response to Ambrosia Publishing has been positive. We have received a fair amount of submissions (thanks to everyone who has submitted so far), some coverage on a couple of promenient blogs, and we are this close to making a couple of projects official. But we can’t say anything till contracts are signed.

I do have to make a couple of things clear for those who are thinking of submitting to Ambrosia Publishing. I thought I had made the following pretty clear in our guidelines but, nevertheless, here are some rules you really, REALLY should go by when you submit your project to Ambrosia Publishing:

1- We are only interested in accepting submissions which already has a team in place. This means the submission should have a writer, artist, letterer, and/or colorist in place. If you are all four- great. If you’re a writer with no artist but you have a letterer and/or colorist- find an artist before submitting. If you are a writer with a superfantastical idea but nobody to illustrate your project- find one. I wish I had the means to put teams together but I don’t. So save both yourself and I some time and have a team in place BEFORE submitting.

2- We are not interested in your superhero project. It’s nothing personal.

3- We are interested in projects which falls into the Vertigo-like category. If you can see your project being published under DC’s Vertigo banner, then we are interested.

4- We are also interested in projects similar to those found in Image’s FLIGHT anthologies. Just because we are looking for darker material doesn’t mean we are not interested in more fantasy, light-hearted, cartoony material.

5- All project have to be over 100 pages. This is a large number of pages but it is for a reason.

6- We are always looking for new projects. Yes, we are plannning on debuting this year with three to five projects- but that doesn’t mean we are not interested in future projects. Besides, nothing has been signed yet. So we are always looking for submissions.

I hope by making these points again, people will bring us more submissions which we can consider and not reply with an email redirecting them to our submission guidelines.
